WELCOME!

Macdill AFB Mens Golf Association League - Founded 1972

The Macdill Mens Golf Association is a league of golfers who are mostly retired military and veterans.  We have more than 50 regular members.  We play at Bay Palms Golf Complex on Macdill AFB.  We normally play the  South Course but occasionally play the North Course.  Our regulars are active duty, veteran, DoD employees, DoD contractors and off-base civilians.  The USGA handicap (GHIN) is NOT required to play in our league.  The Mens League is simple and friendly and we welcome every skill level to join!

Our league is organized with a constitution and by-laws.  Rules and policies cannot be changed without member voting and approval.  There is an annual meeting in December where we bring up, as group, any issues, rules or suggestions dealing with league play.  The MMGA officers are also elected during this meeting:

Officers for 2024 are:

President:  Jerry Shotts, USAF (retired)

Vice-President: Phil Snyder, USA (retired)

Secretary-Treasurer:  Andy Clark, USAF (retired)

Mini-Tournaments:

We play on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, Sundays and some holidays with the first tee-time approximately 0730.  Showtime is NLT 0700 but we encourage you to be there earlier.

We average 8 to 20 players each of these days.  It is individual play using a modified Stableford scoring system.  The prize pool is based on the number of paying players on any particular day and a minimal 50% of the playing field wins money. There is a buy-in each day of play of $15 and is payable to the daily bookkeeper prior to play.  At the end of  each round there are three prize pools for the Front 9, Back 9 and Total.  We regularly have optional competitions such as closest to pin on select Par 3s and a SKINS game for Gross and Net.

Stableford scoring is as follows:

Eagle/Ace:  5 points

Birdie: 3 points

Par:  2 points

Bogey:  1 point

Dbl Bogey:  0 points.  To speed up play we suggest picking up your ball on a failed bogey attempt.

Side Bets:

Many of our players get into side bets amongst themselves (skins, round robin, nassau) and you're more than welcome to join in.

Green/Cart Fees:

You are responsible for paying your own green/cart fees at the Pro Shop.  Fees are based on your military or civilian status.

Dress Code:

Appropriate golf attire is required at all times during play.
